Today I took Emma and Sarah Beth to the doctor for their 8-year and 2-year check-ups. They are both healthy! Sarah Beth is in the 97th percentile in height while Emma is in the 75th. Emma's body mass index is up the 14% from 5% at her last check-up! Her skinny jeans are still loose on her though!
Sarah Beth had to get one shot. More than anything I think her feelings were hurt, but I just hate seeing those tears fall and that little lip go out. The nurse was fast, but the look on Sarah Beth's face said, "Why did you just do that???"
She had a big yellow band-aid, but after the nurse left Sarah Beth took it off of her leg and put it on mine. Then she said, "Mommy shot. Cyying." So I had to cry because I had gotten a pretend shot. She looked at me and said, "Huwt, Mommy?"
The nurse came back with her tub of toys that Sarah Beth remembered from when Maggie recently got shots. Before she even looked in the tub she said, "Daddy ball!" She wanted a football, and that is what she got!
We were a bit late on Emma's check-up visit. It had definitely been more than a year. She had to do the eye and ear screenings. That was my first reminder of her last visit--when she still didn't talk to other people. I had to tell the nurse what she saw on the eye chart last time. When the doctor would ask her questions, she wouldn't answer. This time she stepped right up and read the chart herself and answered every question she was asked without hesitation. I am so proud of her!
Emma got a trip to the mall, but she didn't really even ask for anything. We did Father's Day shopping and got ice cream. She is such a sweet, content girl.
I am so thankful for my healthy girls!
