The fourth

We had a totally different kind of fourth this year. It was so quiet, but it was good. We went to church. Emma and Sarah Beth were especially decked out in their red white and blue. They looked ready for a picnic. After church we just had a quiet afternoon. I worked on Hague training. The girls napped. Eventually we went and got some fireworks. They were almost out, but we got a package of 24 artillery shells for $40! We ended up saving those for the next night to do with Mom, Dad, DeeDee and Josh.

For our fourth we grilled out, played badminton, turned on the sprinklers, swang, roasted marshmallows for smores, and spread a blanket out in the back yard to star gaze and catch a few fireworks above the treetops. It was perfect!

There were a coue of funny Annie moments. First I was checking out her nose, which actually means that I was taking care of some bumps that had shown up. I told her my nose used to look just like that and that her forehead probably would break out at some point too. She said, "Does that mean I have acne?" I told her not yet, but that most kids have it. She said, "Then I should get some proactiv." I cracked up. Later when we were on the blanket and it was dark, she began to get a little freaked out. We had already moved from the frontto the back yard because she felt more comfortable there, but she wouldn't sit down. She was just standing up beside the blanket. We were telling her to join us and she said, "No. I am going to stand up. That way I can get away quicker if something comes out of the woods!"
